NYSOEA Environmental Studies Scholarship

The New York State Outdoor Education Association (NYSOEA) is a professional organization that supports life-long learning about the natural world.

The 2026 NYSOEA Environmental Studies Scholarship award is designed to support emerging leaders in environmental education, conservation and stewardship —students who will become the next generation of environmental professionals.

How to Apply*

Complete the Online Application Form

Submit:
1. An original essay that includes:

Your professional goals and aspiration
How your intended environmental profession might inspire others to care for the natural world

2. Academic transcript
3. List of three professional or academic references
4. Proof of NYS residency

Additional Eligibility Criteria

The sponsor has specified that the scholarship has the following additional eligibility criteria, or focus.

Eligibility Criteria The NYSOEA Environmental Studies Scholarship is designed to support three students—a high school senior, an undergraduate student, and a graduate student—who are pursuing recognized conservation or environmental-related degree programs. These majors may include, but are not limited to environmental studies, botany, environmental education, forestry, outdoor adventure leadership and environmental conservation.

Applicant must be a current NYS resident
Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
Applicant must be a high school senior, college undergraduate student or graduate student
